Terrace Mayor Carol Leclerc is calling for the use of more wood in the construction of the new Mills Memorial Hospital.
Leclerc says, with the prominence of wood products being used in other projects lately, it would be nice to see the trend transfer to the new hospital.
She did concede that there are certain areas of a hospital where you might not want to use wood for practicality reasons, but added that the use of wood creates a warm and inviting environment.
Mayor Leclerc plans to speak with Wood Works BC about the idea of increasing the material’s usage on the project.
