A major overhaul of the Terrace and District Aquatic centre is now in the advanced stage of construction.
The City of Terrace says the $8 million project has been complex with virtually every wall, public space, and mechanical system of the 45 year old facility getting renovated or replaced.
The pool has been closed since March 19, 2017 and city officials hope to have the facility open some time in May of this year, although a firm date hasn’t been set due to the complex nature of the work.
The new aquatic centre will see big expansions to the fitness room and leisure pool, a lazy river in the pool, a family change room, as well as mechanical upgrades like two new boilers and a UV disinfection system.
