Terrace RCMP are pleading with pet owners not to leave their animals unattended in their vehicles, especially on hot days.
Over the weekend, police responded to an abundance of reports of dogs being left in parked cars.
The inside of cars can heat up very quickly and cause serious harm to animals, if it is hot outside, they do not recommend bringing your pet with you no matter how short the trip.
Police are also reminding those reporting animals left in cars that the correct course of action is to call animal control first at 250 615 4031, and RCMP only if animal control is unresponsive or the animal appears in distress.
Barking while standing upright is not a sign of distress.
