Terrace Search and Rescue was called out Tuesday afternoon to rescue a woman traped on a mountain ledge.
SAR team manager Dave Jephson says the woman was hiking east of Terrace when she fell about hundred feet and became trapped on the ledge 300 feet below the cliff. Friends who were with her called 911.
Jephson says SAR members arrived on scene, carried out a survey of what they faced and then, with the help of Great Slave Helicopters, were able to long line from the chopper to where the woman was located.
They were able to attach her to the line lift her to a clear area above where she had fallen
Jephson says the hiker was badly injuried with at least one broken leg and possibly a broken wrist as well.
