A sign hanging up by two totems poles near Terrace is coming down today.
The owners of the property say the sign will be coming down as soon as an assistant arrives.
The sign will find a new home on regular poles elsewhere on the property.
As for the totem poles, they will stay up until they get further guidance on what they should do with them.
They say messages have been left with local carvers and band officials, and they’re waiting for a response.
The poles themselves have been identified as the work of a local non-First Nations craftsman who was inspired by First Nations art to carve the totem poles with a chainsaw.
