The Regional District of Kitimat Skitine continues to take a precautionary approach after coliform was discovered in the Thornhill water system.
On Tuesday night, district officials issued the boil water notice for all communities attached to the system.
Works and Services Manager Roger Tooms says coliform bacteria is not likely to cause illness, but their presence indicates that a water supply may be vulnerable to more harmful microorganisms.
Tooms says they are currently halfway through the required procedures and now they’re looking to disinfect more areas affected.
The regional district is asking businesses and residents to be patient and use caution while consuming Thornhill water for the time being.
