Three men from the Tl’azt’en Nation are expected in court Wednesday to face possible firearms charges.
The trio was arrested after RCMP were called out to report of shots fired early Saturday in Tachie about 40 minutes north of Fort St. James.
The first officer on scene found a pickup truck with bullet holes and smashed out windows. When he got out of his vehicle to have a closer look he heard a gun shot and saw people walking towards him.
The officer called in backup, including officers from Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, and an Emergency Response Team from Prince George.
Police arrested two male suspects without incident. Officers later recovered a rifle and arrested a third suspect without incident.
During interviews, RCMP learned that a shot had been fired in the direction of a pedestrian and the bullet struck a nearby home.
RCMP say fortunately no one was hurt in what the force is calling a high risk situation.
Anyone with more information that could assist the investigation should contact the Fort St. James RCMP or Crimestoppers.
