Three more fires have merged with the Alkali Lake fire near Telegraph Creek, causing it to balloon in size.
With the addition of the Muddly Lake, Lovell Creek, and Tahltan River fires, the blaze now covers over 118 thousand hectares.
One of six active incident management teams has now set up in Dease Lake to manage the fire.
Crews of over 140 firefighters are working today to reestablish guards along Highway 51 that were damaged by the expansion.
Tahltan First Nations staff are operating heavy equipment to help protect structures in the area, while Ministry of Transportation personnel assess new damage to the roads.
