Time for s’mores, campfire ban rescinded in Northwest Fire Centre

Marshmellow roasters and weiner on a stick enthusiasts can now rejoice.

The Northwest Fire Centre has rescinded the campfire ban for the region as of noon today.

That means campfires smaller than half a metre high and wide are now allowed.

Olivia Pojar is with the Northwest Fire Centre, she says while campfires are now allowed, the fire danger rating in the area still ranges from low to high.

The Northwest Fire Centre extends from just west of Endako to the North Coast and from the Yukon border to Tweedsmuir (North) Provincial Park, a map of its boundaries can be found here.

Pojar also says the Prince George Fire Centre’s campfire ban will be rescinded tomorrow at noon.

  1. This is wrong, according to the BC wildfire service website (http://bcwildfire.ca/index.htm) under “fire prohibitions” it says that they were allowed starting at noon on July 22, not the 21. Great false advertising guys.
