Traditional North Coast art being showcased at NWCC

Traditional North Coast art will be shown off at Northwest Community College this weekend.

NWCC says the exhibit will showcase the works from first and second year students from the Freda Deising School of Northwest Coast Art.

Professor Dean Heron says projects presented will showcase traditional art from local communities.

He says the students were able to create pieces that reflect their culture and families.

The Arts of the North Exhibit runs from tonight 6-9 p.m. and tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the community longhouse at NWCC’s Terrace campus.

The exhibit includes carvings, a variety of masks, crests, and spoons.
