The Federal Government has appointed a new leader to handle consultations on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
Retired Supreme Court Justice Frank Iacobucci (Yak-a-Boo-Chi) will head up what is being referred to as a more focused and efficient consultation process.
Natural Resources Minister Amrjeet Sohi announced the appointment while stressing that these consultations would be more open-minded and less time-restricted than the last run.
The government announced last week that it would be giving the National Energy Board 22 weeks to complete their own review of the project’s marine environment risks.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced that they would not be appealing the court ruling against the project in an effort to expedite construction.
