Transit service from Burns Lake to Smithers and Prince George is getting funded.
The Regional District Bulkley-Nechako Board approved the transit-service agreement yesterday, which will see transit service departing from Burns Lake three days a week.
Service is scheduled to begin this spring, with bus fare expected to be $5.
The inter-community transit service is part of the province’s $5-million Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan.
The plan will see the province cover the cost of the buses and two-thirds of operating costs for five years, with local governments and regional districts funding the remaining third.
