BC’s transportation minister says Greyhound’s decision to cut passenger services in northern British Columbia will leave people vulnerable.
Claire Trevena says people rely on the company’s long-haul routes between communities and Indigenous communities, women, seniors, and those with disabilities will be hit hardest by the reductions.
In the coming weeks, Trevena says she plans to meet with local elected officials, First Nations and others affected to deliver what she calls long-term solutions that work for everyone.
“It is vital that people throughout the province have access to safe, reliable and affordable transportation. In the short term, my ministry will be working with Greyhound to ensure buses remain running as we work with communities to develop long-term, viable solutions that address people’s needs,” says the Minister in a news release.
Trevena says the government is committed to finding solution to ensure continued bus service remains in place for those who depend on it.
