A project to help improve access to Lax Kw’alaams is moving ahead little by little.
The BC government has announced that the work to pave Tuck Inlet Road has gone to tender.
Access to Lax Kw’alaams is by ferry from Prince Rupert. The vessel docks at Tuck Inlet which is connected to the village by a gravel road.
Community members travelling the 17.5 km road have had to brave two-foot potholes, and thick dust during the summers.
The project will see the existing gravel road paved, the replacement of a bridge, and added safety improvements.
Work is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
