Two people are dead after a pair of crashes along the Highway 97 corridor Tuesday morning.
RCMP say the driver of a vehicle died south of Hixon while attempting to pass a transport truck near the turnoff of a nearby mill just after 10 a.m.
Sergeant Al Steinhauser, Operations NCO with with North District Traffic Services, says the driver lost control, struck a rig, and ending up in the ditch.
Earlier in the day, another driver was killed along a four-lane stretch of Highway 97 north of 70 Mile.
RCMP say the vehicle was heading north when the driver crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound vehicle at approximately 8:30.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was killed while the other driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
With 7 deaths in the past 19 days on BC roads, Steinhauser is urging drivers to slow down according to conditions.
