Two people are safe after their boat capsized on the Butze Rapids in Prince Rupert.
It happened just before 4 p.m. Sunday when the jet boat the men were operating hit a wave and capsized.
The Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Michael Gurney says the port’s patrol crew spotted a man in the water.
Gurney says crews then pulled the man onto the boat and were alerted of a second man nearby. He was rescued a few minutes later.
He says it’s fortunate that the patrol boat passed by when it did.
Gurney says the men suffered mild hypothermia but were other wise uninjured.
He says it’s important important for people wanting to travel in the area to know their surroundings .
Gurney says every second counts at this time of year for water rescues.
The temperature of the water was just a few degrees above freezing during the incident.
