Two UNBC students have been granted an illustrious honour.
Both Yahlnaaw, also known as Aaron Grant, and Amy Blanding have been named 3M Student Fellows for 2018.
The Fellowship honours just ten students from across Canada each year for their leadership and commitment to enhancing the educational experience.
Yahlnaaw, a First Nations Studies student from Haida Gwaii, is being recognized for her studies in to how the colonial post-secondary education system deals with Indigenous knowledges.
Blanding is a Master of Education in Multidisciplinary Leadership student who used her personal trauma, suffering a knee injury, to empower herself to build a team of dancers and choreograph a show based on physical limitations.
The two will join with the other 8 fellows next month and embark on a year-long project.
They will also receive a 5 thousand dollar financial award.
