A UNBC researcher will head up a task force looking in to a Call to Action from the Truth an Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
An insight grant of 182 thousand dollars has been issued to Erica Hernandez-Read by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council to conduct the research.
The project will look in to designing a framework for how to better archive Indigenous heritage in BC communities.
Following the project, a final report will be issued that outlines a set of protocols and principles to support archivists and heritage professionals in their treatment of Indigenous archival materials.
Hernandez-Read’s team will consist of archivists and Indigenous heritage professionals who will bring a stronger sense of community between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
