For the third time since 2013, and second year in a row, a UNBC researcher has been named a Banting Fellow.
Doctor Vanessa Sloan Morgan is the most recent recipient of the presitgious honour, receiving the award for her work with northern Indigenous and rural youth in BC.
Along with the title, Doctor Sloan Morgan will received 70 thousand dollars in funding per year for up to two years of postdoctoral research.
Sloan Morgan will put the money towards her project exploring how community centered and engaged youth voices in rural BC can shape more desireable futures and help to address impacts of resource extraction.
Sloan Morgan’s award is one of only 70 given out across Canada.
