Homeowners and businesses in several locations are being warned about gas work performed by local companies.
B.C. Safety Authority says anyone in Kitimat, Terrace, Smithers or Prince Rupert who had work performed by Best Heating, Mercury Mechanical or Masoud Bahrami to contact them.
Numerous incidents of unauthorized work by Bahrami have resulted in potential unsafe conditions related to gas appliances like furnaces and hot water tanks.
Bahrami doesn’t possess a valid gas contractors license and is not certified to perform any work on gas equipment that is regulated by the safety authority. Carbon Monoxide or fires could be triggered if there is a problem.
The province’s gas safety manager Brad Wyatt says his organization needs to be aware of any non-compliance or unsafe conditions so they can follow up.
He says if repairs are required only certified companies should be called upon.
