BC Hydro has provided more information about the incident that closed Highway 37 north of Dease Lake early Tuesday.
Community Relations Manager Bob Gammer says a vehicle left the road and damaged a hydro pole 500 metres north of the Jade City Maintenance Yard.
Gammer says the pole was broken at the base, but remained standing to there was no effect on power in the area.
Because the damaged pole was leaning toward the road, RCMP closed the highway as a precaution.
Hydro crews are at the site and plan to replace the pole which will mean a power outage.
The transportation ministry estimates that Highway 37 could reopen at 2 pm.
