One person is dead and three injured in a serious accident on the Williams Creek Bridge on Highway 37 between Terrace and Kitimat.
Three pick-up trucks and a commercial vehicle were involved in the accident, about 15km south of the Highway 16 Junction.
Chief Rick Boehm of the Thornhill Fire Department says two people were trapped in their vehicles and required extraction.
He says it was an all out effort by various departments to get to the accident scene.
The RCMP are investigating what caused the accident.
Drive BC advises motorists to take Old Lakelse Lake Road to get around the closure.
It’s estimated the highway will reopen sometime between 9pm and 11pm.
