Kitimat residents will get an update on two LNG projects at a townhall meeting this Saturday.
Organizerand local business owner David Johnston says those attending will also get the opportunity to express their opinions on the importance of LNG Canada and Kitimat LNG to the future of the community.
Johnston calls the gathering a call to action because recent moves could have an impact on final investment decisions.
Johnston has concerns over federal tariffs on imported fabricated industrial steel components to counter foreign suppliers from dumping in the market.
Project proponents say there are no Canadian suppliers of the size to fill their orders. The tariffs could add billions to both projects and that could put them out of the reach when compared to potential elsewhere in the world.
The townhall meeting is coming up Saturday at Riverlodge betwen 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
