A landmark decision has been reached by the US International Trade Commission with regards to duties on Canadian paper products.
A unanimous finding of no injury by the ITC means that the 20 percent anti-dumping and countervailing duties applied by the US on paper products must now be refunded.
The ruling mainly effects the lower mainland based Catalyst Papers, but has an impact on all newsprint related industry in British Columbia.
Following the ruling, the US Department of Commerce will no longer be able to charge the duties to Catalyst, and will need to refund duties applied after January 16th of this year.
