The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an expanded evacuation order for the Verdun Fire.
The evacuation order is now in effect for Cheslatta Lake south to Ootsa Lake and east to Holy Cross Forest Service Road.
Evacuees are encouraged to register in the communities nearest to where they have been evacuated.
Those in need of a place to stay may need to travel to Prince George due to limited availability.
The BC Wildfire Service says wind and hot weather are whipping up fire behaviour, pushing the eastern flank of the fire 2 km Wednesday.
Given the weather picture, fire Officials are concerned about the safety risk of people refusing to abide by the evacuation orders for both the Nadina and Verdun fires on the South side of Francois Lake. Fire growth is anticipated as well as extreme fire behaviour in the next 72 hours.
More information can be found at the Regional District of Bulkley-Nehcako website and the BC Wildfire Service.
