A vigil is taking place in Bella Bella to protest the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.
The vigils are happening across Canada including in Vancouver and Victoria.
The goal is to show the federal government that a lot of Canadians are concerned about the proposed expansion.
The vigil is taking place at 5 p.m. at the Bella Bella Government Wharf.
A decision is expected by mid-December on the company’s plan to triple the amount of bitumen and other oil products moving through the pipeline to a port in Burnaby.
Opponents of the project say it could spike the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and significantly increase the amount of oil tanker traffic in the waters.
