Fort St. John RCMP say they were forced to shoot two dogs that were violently attacking two people.
On Christmas Day, the police got a call from a frantic woman saying two dogs had killed her cats, and were now attacking her and her husband.
The call ended abruptly, and officers immediately went to the residence to investigate.
At the 9200 block of 82nd Avenue, the officers found blood smears outside the door.
Inside, they found a 51 year old woman suffering from dog bites.
They also found two dogs attacking an unconscious 66 year old man.
The officers tried to stop the dogs, but due to the seriousness of the attack and fearing for the man’s life, one officer shot the attacking the dogs.
One dog was killed immediately, with the other escaping onto the street, but was caught and later put down.
The woman was treated at a local hospital, while the man had to be air lifted out due to the seriousness of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are still trying to piece together what led up to the attack.
