Terrace residents may be able to walk the length of the solar system in the near future.
A group of grade 6 students from Uplands Elementary along with Tony Walker are proposing to layout the solar system along the Grand Trunk Pathway to give everyone a better understanding of how big it really is.
The proposal would see the solar system first put on the pathway with chalk or paint, then eventually moving to plaques for a more permanent solution.
There would be no cost to the city as installation and maintenance will be done by the students.
Mayor Carol Leclerc says it’s an idea that could make Terrace stand out when it comes to tourism.
Council voted to support the project and the group will now sit down with city staff to discuss the idea more.
The idea was not free from controversy though as council debated whether to include Pluto or not as a planet.
