The Regional District of Kitimat Stikine has issued a water quality advisory for Upper and Lower Thornhill
District staff say multiple tests from a number of different locations have revealed the presence of coliform in the water system.
Officials says that the water supply in Lower and Upper Thornhill is suspected to be contaminated with the potentially harmful bacteria and may not be safe for human consumption.
As a precaution, the district is advising residents in both areas to boil water for at least one minute and then cool it prior to being used for drinking, brushing teeth, washing food.
It’s not clear how long the water quality advisory will remain in effect for.
