South Side residents of Terrace have likely already noticed that work to replace aging wastewater infrastructure is underway.
Mayor Carol Leclerc says the replacement of water, sewer, and drainage systems on Kalum Street from Graham to Haugland is one of the projects funded by a federal/provincial grant of over $2.2 million.
The city was able to leverage the grants with $620,000 in capital funding which Leclerc says will bring Kalum up to standards set out in the Official Community Plan.
Terrace’s wastewater treatment plant is also getting some major upgrades as part of the infrastructure grant.
The facility will get a screening system for flows entering the plant, a reconfigured inlet pipe to the lagoons, and the installation of a chain link fence for enhanced security.
