Weather is starting to cooperate as crews continue with the clean up and recovery of the tug boat near Bella Bella.
The Heiltsuk Nation’s Jess Housty says they had to limit their operations for a number of days.
She says they’re still a long way from taking the tug out of the water and are looking the most bullet proof way for it to be done.
While they’re still determining all of the impacts from the spill, Housty says the incident is putting a lot at risk.
A report released by the Unified Command Post says divers found two tanks containing oil or contaminants were either torn open or severely damaged from the incident.
It was 11 days ago when the tug and empty fuel barge ran aground in the Seaforth Channel. The fuel barge has been since taken away from the scene.
