Wet weather not expected to make it to the southern interior where fires are burning

With the worst fire season on record, many are wondering how long these fires will continue to burn.

Currently, 162 fires are burning in the province with only 4 new fires starting up yesterday (Monday).

Kevin Skrepnek is with the BC Wildfire service and he says there is some wet weather coming up in the forecast.

Skrepnek adds, however, the wet weather won’t be heading to the southern area of the province.

Since April 1st, 1207 fires have started up burning over 1 million hectares of land, and currently, 3800 personnel are working to stop the fires.
