The BC Wildfire Service is tackling a fire burning in the Kitimat area.
The Northwest Fire Centre says the five hectare blaze is located approximately 14 kilometres southwest of the community near the Bish Creek Mainline.
Fire Information Officer Haley Williams says the wildfire is burning in a forestry cutblock and there are no structures threatened.
Williams says an initial attack crew, a unit crew, and air tankers have been fighting the fire.
There are two officers probing the wildfire’s cause and origin.
The fire danger rating in the Northwest Fire Centre is moderate to high, with concentrations of high danger around Kitimat and Meziadin Junction to west of Endako.
The danger rating is moderate along the North Coast up to the Yukon border.
