Wildfire burning southwest of Williams lake

The BC Wildfire Service has been called out to fire burning in a remote area about 220 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.

Fire Information Officer Natasha Broznitsky says the 14 hectare fire is burning near the junction of the Homathko river and Mosley Creek in the Tatlayoko Protected area.

There are no threats to communities or structures from the fire.

Broznitsky says the fire danger ratings will likely continue to increase with warm, dry weather in the forecast for the coming week.

The Cariboo Fire Centre is urging people to be cautious with any Category 2 burning and to fully extinguish any campfires.

Category 3 fires are still banned throughout the Cariboo fire Centre area.
