A wildfire sparked by a lightning strike last night has prompted an evacuation alert for an area near Alkali Lake.
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikie has issued the evacuation alert for the area west of Sawmill Lake on Highway 51 to Gelorna.
Residents in the effected area are asked to prepare for evacuation by readying all family members, gathering and prepping essential items, packing an emergency survival kit, and making arrangements for monitoring.
