Wildfire smoke may drift into NW communities

There are currently four wildfires in the Cassiar Fire Zone.

The Wildfire Management Branch is warning smoke from these lightning-caused wildfires may drift into northwest B.C. communities.

Three of the fires are approximately 100km southeast of Atlin, while the fourth fire is about 65km southeast of Watson Lake.

There may be increased fire and smoke activity as the forecast is calling for hotter weather next week, and the Wildfire Management Branch says smoke from these fires may be visible in communities along the Yukon-B.C. border.

The wildfires are in remote areas with no road access, but are being monitored.

To report a wildfire or unattended campfire, call 1-800-663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone.
