Wildfires had a heavy impact on airport traffic last year, according the the Prince George Airport Authority.
July of last year saw an 18 percent increase in passenger travel compared to 2016, and August saw a 21 percent jump.
The Authority attributes the increases to arrivals of those evacuated from other parts of the province, as well as to the airport’s efforts in transporting firefighters, emergency personnel and Red Cross supplies.
Overall, passenger traffic at the airport saw an 8 percent increase over 2016, servicing just under 500 thousand passengers.
