The BC Wildfire Service says crews are dealing with a number of fires along the BC-Yukon border.
Officials say wind gusts of up to 50 kilometres per hour are causing increased fire activity. One of the fires that’s seen a flare-up is the Lutz Creek Fire 14 kilometres southwest of Lower Post.
While there’s lots of smoke visible in the area, the community is not threatened by the flames. There are six firefighters with air tanker support working the 40 hectare fire.
The BC Wildfire Service says it’s monitoring the 300 hectare Blue River Fire burning about 26 km southwest of Lower Post.
The Cassiar Fire Zone currently has 26 active fires.
