BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson has been touring the Terrace-Kitimat region for the last couple of days.
Wilkinson and Skeena MLA Ellis Ross met with the Nisga’a Lisims government and spoke to chamber of commerce meetings in both communities.
The Liberal leader also toured the Rio Tinto aluminum smelter in Kitimat to show support for the operation in the wake of U.S. tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel announced last week.
With livelihoods of smelter workers under threat by the tariffs, Wilkinson says it’s vital Canada show a united front.
During a breakfast meeting with the Terrace Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, Wilkinson says he heard concerns about the potential impact of proportional representation on northern BC ridings.
