Williams Lake school to incorporate First Nations culture in courses

A Williams Lake school is one of 17 facilities to receive funding as part of a new provincial program.
The goal of the K-12 Innovation Partnership is to provide schools the chance to explore new programs and practices geared toward student and teacher success.
The Skyline Offsite Alternate school in Williams Lake will use its $8,000 to develop a program which will weave First Nations culture and traditions into courses to foster a sense of belonging in at-risk youth.
Cultural activities will form a significant park of work and curriculum in high school and it will encourage First Nations Elder and community involvement.
The BC government says a second intake for the Innovation Partnership will be announced this fall.
