Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Haida Gwaii.
An intense Pacific frontal system will approach the BC north coast late Saturday.
Ahead of the front, southeast winds 80 to 110km/h will develop over Haida Gwaii late Saturday afternoon. The strong winds will spread to the coastal sections of the North and Central Coast Saturday evening and then to the North Vancouver Island near Saturday midnight.
The wind warning may be extended to these regions. The strong winds will ease Sunday near noon as the system weakens.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
