Wind warnings posted for Northwest

It’s shaping up to be a blustery day across much of northwest BC.

Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for inland sections of the North Coast and for Highway 16 between Terrace and Smithers.

Forecasters say a rapidly intensifying low pressure system is expected across the region Monday morning bringing sustained wind of 70 km/h and gusts to 90.

The wind is expected to ease up this afternoon as the low pressure system moves northeast.

Environment Canada issues wind warnings when there is a significant risk of damaging wind.
