Winter moose tick infections have gone up 10% this year in B.C.
A study by the province shows 60% of moose are showing signs associated with the potentially deadly tick infestation.
Last year, the study showed the infestation level was at 50%.
The on-going study is entering its third year, but provincial biologists say more information is needed to determine if more moose are actually being infested.
The study does show tick infestations are a common problem.
While harmless to humans, the ticks can lead to skin irritation and blood loss for moose and, in cases of severe infestation, lead to serious health issues and even death.
