Prince Rupert RCMP are asking people to use extreme caution on a popular local trail after a wolf attack Friday morning.
Police were called out to the Butze Rapids Trail around 10:30 after a family reported that their dog was attacked by a wolf.
The family was shaken and the dog suffered some injuries, although they were not considered major.
The trails were shut down to the public from 11:00 to 1:30 while the Conservation Officer Service searched the area.
Although witnesses reported three wolves, they were not located.
The trail has since been reopened, but police area reminding users to be cautious and pay attention to the signs at the trailhead.
