Woman killed by train in Burns Lake identified

The BC Coroners Service has identified the woman killed in Burns Lake by a train.

Forty-four-year-old Margaret Alice West was crossing the tracks with two other people on October 8 near Francois Lake Road and Highway 16.

That’s when the Via Rail train travelling westbound struck West.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other people made it off the tracks before the train arrived at the crossing.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate.
