You’ll Be There is a project by Darlene Reid that helps girls get a dress for their graduation.
She was inspired to start this project when her son told her that one of his classmates wouldn’t be attending graduation because she couldn’t afford to go.
Reid says with so many parents living paycheque to paycheque, a grad dress is an expense that is out of reach for some.
This is her fifth year now, and she’s collected a large collection of dresses.
She describes how the girls react when finding that perfect dress.
She’s also garnered a lot of community support, with businesses offering free hair-styling and manicures.
But Reid is moving out of town.
She’s now looking for someone to take over the project.
But just not anyone. Reid has spent a considerable amount of time and money to get the project going.
If you’re interested in taking over this project or helping Darlene Reid, you can contact her at 250-975-0789. She says she works during the day, but she’ll get back to you eventually.
