Mounties took a youth into custody after threats were made against the Veritas Catholic School in Terrace last Friday.
Constable Angela Rabut says a youth was arrested after an investigation.
Cst. Rabut says precautionary measures were put in place after police conducted a risk assessment and determined a full lockdown wasn’t necessary.
The doors to the school were locked, but people were still allowed to come and go, whereas, in a lockdown, no one would be allowed to enter or leave.
Cst. Rabut encourages parents to trust the authorities if incidents like this occur.
She adds the worst thing parents can do in a lockdown situation is to go to the school, saying they could potentially put themselves in danger or interfere with police work.
