A run in with the police may now see Kitimat revitalizing it’s old BMX track.
Earlier this month a number of youths made a BMX ramp out of materials they found at the Kitimat Valley Institute. They thought the material was destined for the dump and created a makeshift ramp with an 8-foot drop.
Police say the youths have stepped forward and apologized to the KVI and returned the materials.
Constable Rebekah Draht of the Kitimat RCMP says upon hearing they don’t have a place to ride their bikes, an officer has stepped up to help them.
She says she’s proud the youths came forward, and that this could be a win-win situation.
Kitimat council will hear about the proposal at tomorrow’s council meeting.
