Growing wildfires this weekend has prompted new evacuation notices.
Yesterday, the Witset First Nation placed the village and surrounding area under an alert due to the 350-hectare John Brown Creek blaze.
That’s in addition to an evacuation order issued in the Stikine Region for the 36,500-hectare Little Blue River Fire.
However, the province states that no primary residences were identified in that area.
Meanwhile, an area outside of Houston remains under an alert due to the over 900-hectare Peacock Creek fire.
The nearly 14,000-hectare Tatuk Lake blaze is still prompting an order and several alerts.
Several alerts remain in effect around the Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.
