A new report has been released stating the top 10 threats to childhood.
Published by Children First Canada, the report details research conducted by the University of Calgary, University of Toronto, and McGill University.
Among their top findings, half of Canadian youth experienced depression during the pandemic, and instances of violence, poverty, and racism have increased over the past year.
It also found that rates of violence against youth double among Indigenous children compared to non-Indigenous kids.
That report came with calls to action such as establishing a federal commissioner for children and youth, investing in children, and ensuring they’re aware of their rights.
